Substantive editing?

I focus on getting the English right — spelling, punctuation, style, grammar, flow, and consistency.

I edit:

Academic texts (with a special focus on education and social sciences) — essays, theses, dissertations, research & journal articles, book chapters, presentations, case studies, reports, & web pages.

Turnaround times vary depending on the length and nature of the text. The typical turnaround time for a text of 5000 words is 2-3 days.

I don’t usually take on formatting or checking citations and references, but I will consider special requests.

Copyediting, proofreading, & substantive editing

I am not a professional copyeditor or proofreader, although I perform many of the functions of a copyeditor/proofreader. I specialise in reviewing the texts of academic writers for whom English is a second language. I refer to my work as språkgranskning (language review) and not copyediting or proofreading because the work routinely involves at least some, and at times extensive rewriting or restructuring – what is known as developmental or substantive editing.
